About UsProprietorsApplegarth is owned and managed by Beverley and Julie Robb. They opened their first nursing home in Carlisle in 1988. In 1994 they developed the domiciliary care arm of the business recognising that many people prefer to remain at home despite on going health problems. In 2007 they began their development at the Applegarth Nursing Home recognising the need to provide continuing care for patients in attractive, homely but clinically efficient premises. Mr and Mrs Robb continue to be involved in all aspects of the business and Mrs Robb’s nursing qualifications and background are invaluable. Julie Robb, a nurse herself, is actively involved in the promotion of health and social care in Cumbria. She contributes to a number of Health & Social Care groups including Cumbria Health & Wellbeing Board, In Control Total, Cumbria Care Modernisation Project Board, Care Sector Alliance Implementation Group, member of UKCHA and is secretary to the Independent Domiciliary Care Providers Association. Key StaffCaroline Whitehead is The Registered Manager of the Healthcare Complex who is an RGN. She worked for 10years in acute surgical nursing at the West Cumberland Hospital. She joined Applegarth as a staff nurse in 1998 and was appointed manager in 2002. She has achieved, among many other things, the Registered Managers Award NVQ level IV and LDAF. Sheena Douglas is the organizations Director of Service and Quality. Sheena is a Registered General Nurse and has worked for Applegarth for 20 years, originally as a nurse and Matron. Sheena has also been involved in Homecare as one of the Registered Managers. She has achieved her NVQ level IV registered manager’s award and is now committed to maintaining the quality service that Applegarth is known for. Angela Ashburn is the Registered General Manager of Applegarth Homecare. Angela is a Registered General Nurse and has worked for Applegarth for 20 years. She was originally a nurse and later Matron of Applegarth Nursing Home. When Applegarth extended its facilities to include Homecare, Angela rose to the challenge and extended her role to include homecare, achieving her NVQ level IV registered managers award Helen Arrowsmith is a Registered General Nurse with both acute and community experience as a nurse and manager. She keeps her clinical skills and knowledge up to date by practicing as a nurse in the evenings for the community service based at CueDoc. Helen has worked for the company for just over 6 years and enjoys delivering training believes in developing staff to a high standard. She was one of two trainers who devised the present induction programme which is now used in different care settings throughout many areas of Cumbria. The induction is based on Skills for Care 6 induction standards and is endorsed by the Care Sector Alliance Cumbria. In 1991 she achieved the City & Guilds 730 in teaching and assessing students over the age of 16 in health. She has just refreshed those skills by passing the 4 day Chartered Institute of Environmental Health’s Professional Trainer Certificate achieving a Credit. She has also achieved level 3 Introductory Certificate in First Line Management as well as the D32/33 award to enable her to undertake NVQ assessments. |
