Learning Disabilities Unit

Applegarth delivers services to six individuals with wide ranging learning disability needs and offers care to those with a leaning disability which may or may not be associated with physical disability.

Care is provided as an individually tailored support package which recognizes the person as an individual with unique needs. The concept of Person Centred Care is one that we strongly and passionately believe in. It places each individual and those close to them at the centre of needs assessment which aims to identify real choices in delivery of needs led services.

Our services are structured to enable the person to enjoy both social care and community led activities including public services, recreational educational or work based opportunities as appropriate.

We offer services to people with learning disabilities in our specially designed unit which gives access to such facilities as our sensory room, craft room, therapy area, and water relaxation pool.

We offer crisis, day, short or continuing care.

We aim to support our patients to:
  • Improve health and well being
  • Maximize quality of Life
  • Enable Positive Contribution
  • Allow choice and control
  • Develop Life Skills
  • Facilitate personal dignity
  • Promote Independence
